Harald Oskar Sohlberg (29 September 1869?C19 June 1935) was a Norwegian Neo-romantic painter, particularly known for his depictions of the mountains of Rondane and the town of Røros. Siri Derkert föddes i Stockholm 1888 som ett av sju barn till köpmannen Carl Edward Johansson Derkert, från 1904 endast Derkert, och Emma Charlotta Valborg, född Fogelin 1860. Hon utbildades vid Althins målarskola i Stockholm från 1904 och på Konstakademien 1911-1913. Därefter studerade hon konst i Paris på Academie Colarossi och Academie de la Grande Chaumiere tillsammans med Ninnan Santesson och Lisa Bergstrand (Elisabeth Bergstrand-Paulsson) fram till första världskrigets utbrott hösten 1914. Under och efter första världskriget vistades hon periodvis i Italien, där hennes första barn Carlo föddes. Siri Derkert studerade också vid den kvinnliga medborgarskolan som drevs av fogelstadgruppen. Till Fogelstad kom hon i september 1943 och denna vistelse inspirerade hennes konstnärskap. Hon gjorde bland annat flera skisser av de kvinnor som var verksamma på Fogelstad, däribland Honorine Hermelin och Ada Nilsson. Siri Derkert hade tre barn: sonen Carlo (1915-1994) med den finländske konstnären Valle Rosenberg (1891-1919) samt döttrarna Liv (1917-1938) och Sara (född 1920) med tecknaren och bokillustratören Bertil Lybeck (1887-1945). Med Lybeck var Siri Derkert gift mellan 1921 och 1925, men parterna levde inte tillsammans.
James Seymour
British Painter , ca.1702-1752 English painter and draughtsman. The son of James Seymour (d 1739), a dealer in pictures and precious metals, Seymour was among the first English painters to specialize exclusively in sporting subject-matter. Though he possibly received some informal drawing instruction from the topographer Francis Place, Seymour was essentially a self-taught artist whose education was based on the study of pictures that passed through his father's hands; one of his earliest known works is a sketch of a horse's head after van Dyck (sold London, Christie's, 16 June 1970). His early 'genius to drawing of horses' was, according to George Vertue, compromised by 'modish extravagances' through living 'gay high and loosely' and because he 'never studied enough to paint or colour well'. Elsewhere, however, it was recorded that by 1739 he was 'reckoned the finest draughtsman in his way [of horses, hounds etc.] in the whole world' (Universal Spectator, 1739), and he was certainly preferred to his chief rival, John Wootton, by many sporting patrons. Among his employers was William Jolliffe MP, of Ammerdown. Though many of his paintings are either derivative of Wootton or simply inept, or both, others are characterized by a self-conscious stylistic naivety in which meticulous attention to detail and eerily static compositions combine to create curiously memorable images of some apparent sophistication.
Max Koch
(born July 17, 1854 - April 1, 1925) was a German-born Australian botanical collector. Born in Berlin, Koch was apprenticed to a merchant's office, but, not liking the work, joined the crew of a Glasgow-based sailing ship at Bremerhaven. He left it at Port Augusta, South Australia in April 1878, taking work at a wheat farm. Later he moved to Mount Lyndhurst sheep station, where he remained for many years. Around 1896 he began serious botanical collecting. Koch visited Germany around 1902-1903, then returned to Australia, and in 1904 moved to the extreme south-west of Western Australia, where he spent the next 17 years working in the timber industry. By that time he had a large family, and he supplemented his income by plant specimens, and, in his later years, seed. He died at Pemberton, Western Australia in 1925
